The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is asking customers to continue saving water as the area continues to face drought conditions. Recent rainfall that accompanied Hurricane Dolly has helped stabilize the aquifer, but summer is still in full swing, the utility warns.
?EUR??,,????'??With the aquifer level above 670 feet and announcement of the end of Edwards Aquifer Authority?EUR??,,????'???s Stage One Drought Restrictions, it is easy to think we are out of the danger zone,?EUR??,,????'?? says SAWS spokeswoman Anne Hayden. ?EUR??,,????'??But we still have to get through August and September.?EUR??,,????'??
SAWS is asking everyone to voluntarily follow Stage One Drought Restrictions and water lawns only once a week.
Year-round water restriction are still in effect, with sprinkler use allowed only before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m., without water running on the street. In recent weeks, the daily pumping average has dropped from nearly 240 million gallons to 170 million gallons, thanks largely to San Antonians turning off their sprinkler and irrigation systems when they?EUR??,,????'???re not needed.
This conservation, along with the recent rain, has helped the aquifer stabilize, according to Hayden.
