Water Commission Asks City to Change Ordinances

The Medford Water Commission says that there are other landscaping alternatives to grass, such as bushes and plants, that can help the city conserve more water.

In Medford, Ore., the Medford Water Commission is asking the city to change its landscaping ordinances to promote better use of water resources in its landscaping practices. A provision currently states that within 8 years of development there must be plant material on 80 percent of a site. Usually, landscapers follow this provision by putting in grass, but the MWC argues that this wastes water and that there are more water-friendly landscaping options available. The Medford City Council has approved the MWC?EUR??,,????'?????<
