For the state licensure requirements 39 states (purple) have a practice act, three states (yellow) including DC have no law and eight states including Washington (red) have a title act.

The Washington chapter of ASLA has scheduled a work plan session for licensure of the profession. Landscape Architects of a Title Act State need a detailed plan on how to make the practice act a reality. Being a title Act State may feel a bit lonely. WASLA’s proposed practice act bill is shaping up for completion by September. WASLA Governmental Affairs Committee is planning to submit the bill in January as part of a package of bills with the architects and land surveyors.

A lot of work has gone into getting us this far and next comes the preparation for the final push. In order for this effort to be successful, there are a number of actions that need to happen before and after the bill has been submitted.

Governmental Affairs Committee invites the state’s landscape architects to be a part of the planning of this effort to be held June 30 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Otak Inc. in Seattle.
