On Dec. 9, 2007, Holmdel, N.J. unveiled and dedicated its veterans???~ memorial, the Circle of Honor, in Phillips Park. The memorial contains more than 1,200 names on six black granite stones, commemorating Holmdel veterans who gave their lives serving their county from the Revolutionary War to the present.
The memorial’s designer was landscape architect John Halleck, who did not live to see the fruition of his work. Halleck passed away in October 2006 at age 81. His landscape architectural work in Holmdel also includes the Garden State Arts Center (renamed the PNC Bank Arts Center in 1998) and St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church.
