More than 120 volunteers from the Greater Detroit Golf Course Superintendents Association gathered at the 180-acre course to help lay sod, aerate the greens and spread seed. A golf course superintendent oversees an entire course and its daily activities.

The 6.5 acres of greens were destroyed July 11. Greens on the neighboring Wyndgate course remain unharmed. ?EUR??,,????'??When it was totally brown, I would have to call it unplayable,?EUR??,,????'?? Crouse said.

Now patches of dirt peek through fresh grass that?EUR??,,????'???s growing while the collars have been newly sodded amid the manicured lawns, lush trees and natural wetlands, Crouse added.

Crouse estimates the course will be back to normal by spring. The grass should fill itself in within a month. The new sod cost $50,000.
