Vitruvian Park Entry Plaza Linda Tycher & Associates, Inc., Landscape Architects The prominent plaza signage combines a 16-ft. tall vertical logo monument and a 20-ft. horizontal park signage wall. Both walls are clad in two-inch thick bluestone. The double-leaf Vitruvian logo on the vertical monument features ''halo effect'' lighting as well as internal illumination. The one-inch thick lettering is highlighted by energy-efficient wall wash lights. An entry plaza was constructed in 2009 for Vitruvian Park, a 100-acre mixed-use development in Addison, Texas, just north of LBJ Freeway in the Dallas metropolitan area. When fully realized, Vitruvian Park will feature an urban mix of luxury apartment living, retail shops, office space and ''natural'' amenities. Vitruvian Park is Addison's first major sustainable green initiative. The esoteric name of the development is apparently an homage to Roman architect Marcus Vitruvius Pollio (circa 80 BC-15?????EUR??,,?EUR BC), author of De architectura, one of the most important sources of modern knowledge of Roman building methods. The Vitruvian Park entry plaza design builds on the goal of naturalized water features. As Vitruvian Park features a spring-fed creek, the decision was made to feature water in the entry monument plaza. The large plaza in front of the water feature connects pedestrian and bicyclists on Marsh Lane and Brookhaven College nearby. The Vitruvian Park signage is on vertical and horizontal slabs of bluestone. The walls appear to rise out of the earth. Bisecting the dark gray green bluestone walls is buff-colored native Texas Leuders limestone forming the fountains that knife through the walls. The converging streams appear as if created by years of water cutting through dense stone. Two-inch thick bluestone weirs with multicolored tiles form pools of sparkling water that gently flow through the structure into an abstract V-shaped (V for Vitruvian Park) basin.

Layers of planting provide seasonal interest while softening the transition between the terraced walls. Abutting the curved bluestone walls of the plaza are six-inch caliper mature bald cypress trees. These matched trees provide a strong symmetrical backdrop, while allowing views across the plaza into the site. Powerful arcs of dark green Tamarix juniper and Loropetalum ?EUR??,,????'??Purple Diamond?EUR??,,????'??? are set within spaces framed by the limestone configurations to soften and balance the stonewalls.
