The "Horticultural Encounter" runs May 11-29, 2015 at Village Nurseries' Huntington Beach, Calif., growing grounds and landscape center.

Village Nurseries Wholesale, an Orange County, Calif.-based specialty grower for landscape professionals, announces it is hosting the first annual "Horticultural Encounter" May 11-29, 2015 at its Huntington Beach, Calif. growing grounds and landscape center.

Offered by appointment only, landscape architects, designers, and design/build contractors are welcomed to view the showcase vignettes of plants best suited for today's challenging landscape, and gain a deeper understanding of how and where their plant offerings will thrive. The vignettes are titled Arbor Harbor, Bioswale Beach, Clay Corner, Drought-Tolerant Discovery, Grassy Grove, Perennial Plains, Pollination Station, Salt Lover's Leap, Screen Scene and Succulent Safari.

Attendees will be able to observe plant pairings of contrasting colors, forms and sizes that affect how they envision future designs, styles and landscape themes. Also included will be plant solutions for demanding landscapes, such as reclaimed irrigation and clay soil sensitivity, plus ideas for landscape functions such as screens, pollinator gardens and bio-retention zones. Village Nurseries will also showcase some of its newest plant introductions including many of their top-performing succulents and drought-tolerant plants.

"When it comes to various landscape situations, we tend to turn to familiar plant palettes," said Suzie Wiest, a regional marketing rep for Village Nurseries. "Being able to see and touch an expanded line of plants in groupings by usage helps add to those palettes "?(R)? when confronted with needing a plant for a dry shade area, a bioswale, or seaside garden," she explained.

The invitation-only event is designed to be fun, offering gifts, prizes and dining by request. The private tours can accommodate a group of associates or company teams. To schedule a tour, contact Suzie West at (858) 699-0442 or via email swiest@villagenurseries.com.
