Sustainability has always been a key focus for Vestre. Can you tell us about your efforts on this topic?

We have heard you have a very sustainable production process.
All Vestre's furniture, including BLOC, is produced in the world's probably most environmentally friendly furniture factory called The Plus. Designed by the Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group, The Plus is the furniture factory for the future proving that the industry can be part of the solution to global warming with 55% lower greenhouse gas emissions than a conventional factory. Innovative new solutions make it possible to produce smarter and greener than ever before.
BLOC has been a hit product in the US and in Europe. What is unique about the design?
BLOC is characterized by a diagonal bend on the large steel surfaces - a strong visual character that not only serves as a design theme but also adds more stability to the construction. The furniture series is module based, making it easy to adapt to the needs of your project. It includes everything from benches to tables and litter bins to planters. The different furniture pieces can stand alone or be connected sideways or back-to-back, to create different dynamic zones for relaxation and socialization.
The series is designed by Norwegian designers Atle Tveit and Lars Tornøe.
Vestre products are often colorful, what options do customers have?
Just like all Vestre products, BLOC can be powder-coated in nearly 200 different RAL colors to either blend in or stand out. This way you can create a unique look and identity for your project.
Colors and quality go together for Vestre, how do you ensure longevity of your products?
The powder-coating process Vestre uses was developed for the Norwegian offshore industry to ensure a very high-quality finish that meets the strict requirements of Corrosion Class C5 (coastal areas with high salinity). Because of this process, Vestre can provide an industry leading 15-year anti-rust warranty on paint.
How has the BLOC series been received in the US?
The BLOC series has been very well received in the US. Designers looking to adapt seating for their unique spaces like the flexibility of the series. In addition to the standard modules of seating, chairs, stools, tables in different heights, planters, and receptacles. Modifications can be made if needed and ADA versions are available. Everyone who has sat on a BLOC bench will have noticed its unbeatable comfort due to the angel of the seat and back, and generous sized wood slats. BLOC has character while still blending perfectly into each unique space due to its clean lines.
