The University of Texas at Austin?EUR??,,????'???s graduate program in landscape architecture, established in 2003, has received accreditation from the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board.

?EUR??,,????'??It?EUR??,,????'???s quite an achievement for us to receive accreditation in three years,?EUR??,,????'?? said Hope Hasbrouck, graduate advisor and assistant professor in the School of Architecture, who notes the process can take up to 10 years. The program had an accreditation visit in October 2006, and the faculty and staff received official notice of accreditation on Jan. 23, 2007.

Accreditation is critical to the program and the landscape architecture students. The 15 alumni that graduated from the program and 37 current students will now be eligible to take the Landscape Architect Registration Examination to get their professional license.

Hasbrouck credited success of the accreditation to the dedication from colleagues in the School of Architecture, to Dean Fritz Steiner, and the ideas and hard work from students in the program.

Dean Almy, an associate professor, is the director of the graduate program in urban design and landscape architecture.
