U.S. Home & Garden Announces Resignation of Richard Grandy07-18-03 | News

SAN FRANCISCO ?EUR??,,????'??+ U.S. Home & Garden Inc. has announced that Richard Grandy, chief operating officer and president of its subsidiary, Easy Gardner, Inc., resigned from these positions effective June 30, 2003, the date on which his employment agreement expired. Grandy's duties will be assumed by a senior management team led by Dick Kurz, chief financial officer of the company and Easy Gardner, Sheila Jones, vice president, operations of Easy Gardener, and senior sales personnel. Grandy is pursuing the purchase of the assets of Easy Gardner and certain other subsidiaries of the company in a leveraged buyout by a company that he has formed. Although the company held discussions with Grandy concerning the possible extension of his contract, Grandy determined not to continue his employment with the U.S. Home & Garden. "I am very optimistic about the future of the lawn and garden industry,?EUR??,,????'?? Grandy said. ?EUR??,,????'??I have enjoyed working with the current management team and wish them every success. However, at this stage in my career I believe that my role as a participant in the industry is best served as a principal.?EUR??,,????'??
