In her statement, Reno Mayor and USCM President Hillary Schieve expressed her enthusiasm for sponsoring the resolution and its successful adoption. She explained, "City parks play a vital role in the social, economic, and physical well-being of America's cities and their residents. This newly adopted USCM resolution shows the broad support from mayors across the country for city parks and the need for increased federal investment."

City Parks Alliance, a dedicated nationwide membership organization focused on urban parks, has been instrumental in advocating for city parks' cause. Its bipartisan Mayors for Parks Coalition has played a crucial role in securing increased federal investment for urban parks through various initiatives, including the Great American Outdoors Act, the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

USCM CEO and Executive Director Tom Cochran expressed gratitude for the advocacy work of City Parks Alliance, underscoring mayors' commitment to ensuring equitable access to parks, green spaces, and recreational opportunities for all urban residents.
