Effective July 1, the University of Wisconsin – Madison will merge its departments of Landscape Architecture and Urban & Regional Planning to for the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture. The department will be housed in the College of Letters and Science (the landscape architecture department was previously housed in the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences). According to the merger proposal, "the new enlarged department"?(R)? will indeed provide a more sustainable foundation for excellence in landscape architecture, urban/regional planning, and the many promising intersections of those fields." Current students as well as students starting in the fall semester 2017 in the BSLA degree program have the option to complete their degree in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Admission to the landscape architecture major will be suspended effective spring 2018 to align the program with new curricular requirements. The MS in landscape architecture will continue in its current form, but the MA in landscape architecture will be closed to new enrollment. For more information, visit la.wisc.edu.
