University of Georgia's Landscape Architect Enrollment Expected to Decrease Enrollment for Fall 1997 in the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Georgia is projected at 330 undergraduate students and 55 graduate students; enrollment is expected to decline over the next few years. Much of this has to do with what a Landscape Architect makes after a five year degree versus what salary a person with a four year degree can make. In Georgia, a starting Landscape Architect can earn about $22,000 to $24,000. A person who enters the teaching field can expect $24,500 "right out of the box" with a four year degree and working only nine months. Professor of Environmental Design, Scott S. Weinberg remarks, "I truly feel that most students graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture are making a positive contribution toward the environment, [and] stand to benefit financially."
