The University of Cincinnati is accepting applications for a new Master of Landscape Architecture program in the highly ranked College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). The MLA is in the School of Planning with interdisciplinary collaboration with fine art, industrial design, digital design, transportation design, architecture, study abroad, and urban design. The UC MLA offers four options: an 80 credit, 6 consecutive-semester MLA I First Professional Degree which will seek LAAB accreditation; a 49 credit, 4 consecutive-semester MLA IIA option with an emphasis on collaborative thesis projects in DAAP fields; a 49 credit, 5 consecutive-semester MLA IIB option with Graduate Certificates in Business or Urban Design; and a 61 credit, 5 consecutive-semester dual degree option with the MLA IIB and a Master of Community Planning. Each option requires one or two international or domestic cooperative education experiences, which is unique among North American MLA programs. According to the founding director of the UC MLA program, Virginia L. Russell, FASLA, "There are so many good MLA programs out there and we don't want to reinvent that wheel. We've built our program to focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and to take advantage of the DAAP environment. We especially hope to attract students interested in the study of the critical practice, the business of design, and the relationship of landscape architecture to other closely allied fields such as planning, architecture, art, and design."

Applications to the UC MLA program will be accepted in January 2017. The MLA I will begin Summer 2017 and the MLA II options will begin Fall 2017. For more information, please visit the UC MLA website: www.daap.uc.edu/planning/masteroflandscapearchitecture.html
