Southern Utah University, with the help of a Blue Sky grant from Rocky Mountain Power, has installed 35 solar panels on the facilities building west of campus. The solar panels are part of the university?EUR??,,????'?????<

The panels are in addition to different landscaping initiatives using 80 different types of trees around campus, as well as drought resistant shrubs, Tanner said.

Utility services manager Tiger Funk said the $30,000 grant from Rocky Mountain Power was essential in the addition of the solar panels.

Depending on the way the panels work out for the university, there may be more installed in the future, Funk said.

Facilities Management is currently working to build a new office building and it may end up being powered by either solar or wind application, Funk said.

Tanner agreed that the use of solar energy might expand across campus in the near future.
