This summer, the days of the traditional tree house have been revamped from make-shift wooden children’s forts built by dad in the backyard, to award-winning architectural masterpieces. Thanks to the sponsorship of Moore Tree Care, a subsidiary of Lambert Landscape Company, these tree-house marvels are on display during the Ultimate Tree Houses Exhibit, which opened on June 14 at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Each of the tree house displays, found throughout the Arboretum’s grounds, are ADA-accessible and safe for children’s play.
“Many designs highlight aspects from the garden including a leaf structure, connected tulips and a house made of moss,” said Tyson Woods, a Director of Moore Tree Care and an ISA Certified Arborist.
Some of the tree houses interpret the gardens around them by creatively showcasing areas for children to explore underground scenes and waterfalls, while other designs are great venues for hide-and-seek. One hut made of bamboo is a shelter of pipes suspended from a great tree with fabric screens amid the branches of one of the Arboretum’s oldest trees. Some of the designs are just plain fun including a giant butterfly, an enormous watering can or a colorful structure near Toad Corners with messages on the walls. The Ultimate Tree House Exhibit will be open to the public at the Dallas Arboretum from June 14-December 31.
