The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) approved the first UgMO wireless soil moisture sensor system petition for a variance from watering day restrictions.

This decision makes the senor eligible for a watering day variance for residents and businesses within SFWMD. Its eligibility applies to all those who reside in towns that do not have more stringent restrictions than SFWMD. The variance is valid year-round, provided it is installed according to the program developed with SFWMD.

Through a controlled study, UgMO Technologies, a Pennsylvania based company, demonstrated to SFWMD that irrigation systems using UgMO saved more water than 2-day-per-week watering restrictions.

UgMO wireless sensors are installed below the surface of the grass or landscaping in each irrigation zone and read the moisture level and soil temperature. They wirelessly transmit this data back to a base station attached to the existing irrigation clock and takes control of the irrigation system. www.UgMO.com
