SeaDwarf? Seashore Paspalum is the only true dwarf of all of the paspalums, making for a tighter knit than other paspalum cultivars. It can be mowed from about 1/10th-inch up to about 4-inches and offers a bright green color.

Environmental Turf Inc., Fort Pierce, Fla., and SFR Holding Co., Colo., announced on March 27 an agreement on the patent, marketing and licensing rights to SeaDwarf? Seashore Paspalum, a salt-tolerant, fine-textured, warm-season turfgrass of increasing popularity for golf and sport fields.

The dispute arose among the original developers, Stewart Bennett, Michael Depew and Paul Tillman, as to the authority to license the grass and sell to third parties. Bennett, as president of the original company, granted a domestic and worldwide master license to Environmental Turf, while Depew and Tillman, as majority shareholders, sold SeaDwarf's patent and trademark to the precursor of SFR Holdings.

Under the terms of the agreement, SFR Holdings has the trademark and exclusive patent on SeaDwarf; Environmental Turf, Inc., has all rights to the trademark and patent as the master licensor, i.e., to sublicense sod growers to propagate, distribute, market and sell the turf in the U.S. and abroad. SFR retains the rights to sublicense, propagate, distribute, market and sell SeaDwarf in Mexico.
