Intrigued by the potential benefits of natural fertilizers for enhanced microbial activity and bio-stimulation, agricultural giant Archer Daniels Midland recently conducted a turf trial on natural fertilizers typically used on golf courses and other commercial turf. Tested against seven other competing natural fertilizers, Converted Organics 6-0-0 displayed the best overall and consistent quality over nearly two months of evaluation.
The study, conducted by Fermanian Consulting, LLC, stacked Converted Organics products against conventional favorites such as Urea and Milorganite.
Most surprisingly, while all of the competing fertilizers contained much higher levels of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium, this blend of both hormones and anti-oxidants still succeeded in besting the competition. Converted Organics is a uniquely "green" company, collecting food waste from restaurants, supermarkets and food processing facilities and putting it to good use; waste that would otherwise end up clogging our already jam-packed landfills.
William Torello, Ph.D., professor emeritus of soil sciences at UMass Amherst and Converted Organics consultant said, "This study demonstrates that golf courses wishing to use organic/all-natural fertilizers can do so without sacrificing the turf quality that they have been used to with synthetic (soluble) urea. In the summer you can expect to see increased color within 1-2 days of application."
