Tri-State Gathering for Landscape Architects




Carol Naughton, senior vice president of Purpose Built Communities, is among the speakers at the tri-state meeting of landscape architects. The initiatives of Purpose Built Communities is based on lessons learned from the revitalization of Atlanta?EUR??,,????'?????<

The Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA-GA) is hosting the 2011 Tri-State ASLA conference “Design of the Times” for members of the North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia chapters in Atlanta, April 28-30. The timing of the event coincides with April being National Landscape Architecture Month.
The Conference will cover topics offering solutions to the area’s biggest problems:

  • Breaking the Cycle of Poverty Through Better Community Design
  • Top Ten Opportunities for Landscape Architects in a Challenging Economy
  • Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Overview: Water and Resource Management, Transportation and Connectivity, Regional Competitiveness, Education, Land Use and Workforce Housing

There will also be education sessions on water planning, redfields to greenfields, sustainability in design, urban park design for the coming decade and basic business courses for design professionals.

Conference speakers include Carol Naughton, senior vice president, Purpose Built Communities; Susan Hatchell, president-elect, American Society of Landscape Architects; Tad Leithead, chairman, Atlanta Regional Commission; Daniel Nadenicek, dean, College of Environment & Design, University of Georgia; and Barbara Deutsch, ASLA, executive director, Landscape Architecture Foundation.
