Trees Across Raleigh not only beautifies the city, but introduces young people to planting and other marvels of nature.


Trees Across Raleigh, Inc. (North Carolina) began in June 1996. Since that time, the nonprofit service organization reports it has planted 5,254 trees on 23 sites with the help of 2,651 volunteers.

This year?EUR??,,????'???s event takes place November 5, in Biltmore Park in southeast Raleigh. Board members recruit from the Boys and Girls Club, Boy and Girl Scouts and Service Raleigh of N.C. State University. Board member Judy Harmon, a Landscape Architect, told the Carolina Newswire the youngsters learn about the importance of trees through this volunteer work.

Local businesses, such as Taylor’s Plant Nursery, support the effort; grants and private donations are also received.

The city provides the manpower and machines to do the heavy digging.
