O?EUR??,,????'???Boyle, Cowell, Blalock & Associates, Inc. (OCBA), a Michigan landscape architecture and site planning firm founded in 1964, is the recipient of the ?EUR??,,????'??Track Facility of the Year?EUR??,,????'?? award in recognition of its design and construction of the new track and field facility at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The award is from the U.S. Tennis Court and Track Builders Association, the only one given in this category in the U.S. in 2003.
The project consisted of the demolition of the existing track and construction of an eight lane track with a poured polyurethane surface; a full complement of field events; an artificial infield turf for football practice, field hockey and other events; a full drainage system for the track and infield connecting to the sewer; fully enclosed aluminum bleachers with seating for 1,000; a prefabricated press box; a brick storage building; site lighting; fencing; a scoreboard and a flagpole.
The area between the track and artificial turf infield is asphalt with tennis court color coating to match the turf color.
The landscape design saved as many trees on the site as possible; additional landscaping will be designed and installed by the campus park and planning office.
Consulting the OCBA on the project was the Kalamazoo office of Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber, Inc.
