The Towson, Md. proposed master plan after complete build out includes a rounder roundabout (at the central axis) to keep driving speeds down to about 20 mph. Orange buildings are existing; dark brown ones are proposed.

Residents and businesses agree that downtown Towson, Md. needs more foot traffic if it is going to prosper. Following a six-day charrette in early June, there is now a vision for a ?EUR??,,????'??Walkable Towson.?EUR??,,????'?? Many of the recommendations are designed to slow down vehicles, including making the downtown roundabout rounder. Public parks and gathering spaces are part of the plan, as are more crosswalks, pedestrian islands, wider sidewalks and even cobblestones for the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

The downtown area has a surfeit of parking. Some the parking surfaces may be put to more productive use, including possible development of a new library facility within a mixed-use complex.
