BLOOMINGTON, Minn. ?EUR??,,????'??? Six Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) members have been selected to learn firsthand what it takes to prepare for the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world. As winners of the Toro Championship Tournament Training Program, three participants will attend the U.S Open at Olympia Fields Country Club, Olympia Fields, Ill; another three will attend the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, N.Y., serving on the golf course maintenance staff for the respective events. Joining superintendent David V. Ward at Olympia Fields Country Club will be: Trent Bartman, assistant golf course superintendent at Quail Ridge Golf Club, Ada, Mich.; Dwight Staats, assistant golf course superintendent at Highland Hills Golf Course, Greeley, Colo.; and Su-Jung Jung, student at Horry-Georgetown Tech College, Conway, S.C. Joining superintendent Paul B. Latshaw, CGCS, at Oak Hill Country Club will be: Brian Boll, assistant golf course superintendent at Interlachen Country Club, Edina, Minn.; Troy Tietjens, assistant golf course superintendent at Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; and Jonathan Baker, student at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. The six winners were selected from 54 assistant superintendent and 15 student entries that included past work experience and an essay about future career goals.
