Liberty University has embarked on an $82.5 million construction project.

Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, founded by the Rev. Jerry Falwell in 1971 to offer ?EUR??,,????'??a quality Christian education,?EUR??,,????'?? has hired a landscape architect to help design a monogram for the school. This decision comes on the heels of the university placing a temporary, ?EUR??,,????'??test?EUR??,,????'?? LU logo on its mountain property in October, which prompted some Lynchburg residents to protest. The test letters were 200 feet long and made of white plastic sheeting.

The campus is on the flats at the base of Candler Mountain, which the university now calls ?EUR??,,????'??? Liberty Mountain. The new logo will be a third of fourth smaller, according to Falwell Jr., the founder?EUR??,,????'???s son. The letters will be made of burgundy-colored shrubbery offset by a background of light-colored stone. The surrounding groundcover will be crown vetch.

The logo is the least of new development plans. The university began this summer on extensive construction projects, envisioning an enrollment of 25,000 students in the next decade. Only 400 of the school?EUR??,,????'???s 4,000 acres are developed. Falwell Jr. told local media the university will reserve a portion of Liberty Mountain for expansion and nature trails and may sell parts of the mountain to a residential developer.
