The tree will travel across the nation on a National Van Lines trailer. The decorations will include 10,000 lights and about 3,000 ornaments made by Washington state students.

Washington state will also provide the Capitol with 65 smaller trees to adorn government offices, including the Supreme Court, Department of Agriculture, Department of Interior and National Arboretum and the Senate. These smaller trees, 6-7 feet, will also be decorated with ornaments made by the Washington students.

The Capitol Christmas tree will be illuminated each night Dec. 6 through Jan. 2.
