The Department of the Interior recently announced that they are moving forward with three solar projects that will sit on 5,300 acres of public land in Riverside County, California.

 
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invited a public review of the draft environmental analysis regarding the proposed Arica and Victory Pass solar projects which would generate up to 465 megawatts of electricity with up to 400 megawatts of storage. The energy project would be an infrastructure investment of $689 million with $5.9 million in annual economic benefit.

"Clean energy, including solar projects like these in California, will help communities across the country be part of the climate solution while creating good-paying union jobs," Secretary Deb Haaland stated, "The Department is proud to help lead the Administration's all-of-government approach toward its ambitious renewable energy goals, which will boost local economies and address economic and environmental injustice."

The Arica and Victory Pass projects would power around 132,000 homes. Meanwhile, the Oberon solar project, which would sit on 2,700 acres of public lands could generate up to 500 megawatts of renewable energy and power 200,000 homes.
