Mssrs. McIlwain, Arnold and White are the principals of M2D Design Group. Mr. McIlwain, ASLA, has over 30 years experience in programming, planning, and design, with a particular focus on college and university work.

Mark Arnold, ASLA, has over 22 years experience in urban design and landscape architecture. He has taught sophomore and junior-level design studios for eight years at the University of Kentucky.

David White, ASLA, has over 18 years experience in landscape architecture and planning design. He currently heads up construction documents, master planning and design services for the M2D Design Group.

The 16-member firm comprises seven landscape architects, three landscape designers, two landscape architecture interns, a full-time civil engineer, a full-time marketing specialist and an accountant to oversee the books. The merger, the principals agree, frees them up to devote more time to design.

M2D will focus on campus planning and higher-education projects, streetscapes, parks, trails and bikeways. The firm has already begun work on Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Berea College and Western Kentucky University.

The firm wants to expand beyond Kentucky and develop a client base in Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and throughout the Southeast.
