Greenscape Inc., a North Carolina-based landscape company, recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. It was founded in 1979 by Michael F. Currin and remains a family-owned business employing more than 150 people. "I started the company back in 1979 as part of a deal with Stan Owen, owner of Owen Garden Center & Nursery in Fayetteville," says Currin, presently Greenscape's CEO. "Stan was busy running his own business, so initially it was just me and an older gentleman named Arthur Walters. We set up shop in a small corner of Stan's retail shop, using leftover peg board for a desk and wall dividers. I still have that desk in my workshop. I look back now at the folks who have worked with Greenscape over the years and am proud of their success and how they have given back to the industry." Currin's son Daniel joined Greenscape after receiving his business degree. "I knew when I graduated from college that I wanted to learn the business and help grow it to the next level," he says. The current company president adds, "The business has adapted over the years based on market needs, but I have continued that focus on hiring great employees to ensure our clients are more than satisfied. I look forward to the next 35 years as we continue to grow the company by building and managing great outdoor spaces!" Greenscape is headquartered in Holly Springs, NC, outside of Raleigh. The company's Green Team consists of professional landscape architects, designers and horticulturists who specialize in residential and commercial landscape design/build, landscape management, and landscape specialty services including irrigation and landscape lighting. Under the Weed Man brand, Greenscape provides a full range of lawn care services customized for each property, including weed, insect and disease management, as well as aeration and seeding. Greenscape Inc. owns Weed Man® franchises in the Triangle area and Wilmington, North Carolina. They are also a supporter of Come Alive Outside, a movement that encourages land care professionals to design, build and maintain spaces that bring people back outdoors.
