What?EUR??,,????'???s the biggest fountain in the world? There?EUR??,,????'???s some debate over this, to the extent that Guinness World Records withdrew the ?EUR??,,????'??Largest Fountain?EUR??,,????'?? category from its website.
However, the Fountain of Wealth in Suntec City, Singapore was listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. Suntec City, constructed between 1989 and 1995, is Singapore?EUR??,,????'???s largest private commercial development, comprising five buildings, a convention center and mall.
The Suntec City fountain is basically a large bronze ring (23 yard dia.) 45 ft. above the ground, supported by five blocks that represent the fingers and thumb of a hand. The ring symbolizes the palm of the hand.
Speaking of new development, the Burj Dubai skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is under construction, but currently rises to an elevation of 2,087 ft., which makes it the world?EUR??,,????'???s tallest building. It still has a few hundred feet to be go.
In keeping with the soaring tower, downtown Burj Dubai boasts plans for one of the largest fountains in the world, with a length of three football fields and the capacity to shoot water to the height of a 50-story building (150 meters, or 164 yards).
The fountain in Fountain Hills, Ariz., first activating in December 1970, was for many years touted as the highest water display of any fountain, which Guinness originally recognized. The fountain is capable of shooting water 560 feet into the air with all three 600-horsepower turbine pumps sucking up 7,000 gpm through an 18-inch nozzle! The fountain, however, normally employs two of the three pumps and lofts the water about 300 feet.
The King Fahd's Fountain in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia claims a water height of 1,023 feet! How is that possible? It?EUR??,,????'???s said the fountain?EUR??,,????'???s three pumps can deliver 165 gps to the five-inch dia. nozzles at speeds up to 233 mph.
