''Stanley Greene has exceptional leadership skills, and a strong commitment to the Synthetic Turf Council and the industry. The STC is fortunate to have Stanley as its new Chairman,'' said Rick Doyle, president of the Synthetic Turf Council.

Before joining the synthetic turf industry, Greene had an extensive career in executive leadership in both the telecommunications and cable industries. Today, Greene can see many similarities in the growth of the synthetic turf industry. ''We are at a critical, yet exciting time in our industry. It is very important that we embrace the needs of our consumers by continuing to educate them and reinforce the benefits of this constantly evolving product.''

''In the United States, it was only ten years ago that synthetic surfaces were seen as a superfluous, non-essential purchase. Now, there are more than 5,000 turf fields in existence and the majority of these fields are being built in colleges, high schools and municipal park and recreation facilities. The need has become overwhelming and it's clearly a cost-effective, responsible solution for owners,'' shared Doyle. ''The fantastic part about this industry is that it is still in its infancy. It is where cell phones were about 15 years ago. Residential and commercial turfscape literally dwarfs the athletic field market and provides significant environmental benefits through water savings and the elimination of pesticides, fertilizers and other lawn chemicals.''

The Synthetic Turf Council was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization dedicated to being the non-biased source for information about the synthetic turf industry. The Council is an action-oriented association; promoting high standards and high quality throughout the industry by means of a respected member certification program and a strict code of ethics that all members are obligated to uphold.

Membership is comprised of manufacturers, builders, suppliers, testing agencies and specialty services companies in the industry and today has more than 150 members in North America and Europe.

''Relatively speaking, I am a newcomer to this industry and it's an honor to have been chosen to serve in this position by so many of my veteran colleagues. Being a member of the Board of Directors previously, I recognize the outstanding job that my predecessor, Joe Motz, has done to build the membership of the Synthetic Turf Council over the last several years. This is clearly an indication of the important role the STC plays in our industry and it is my goal moving forward to continue this momentum,'' added Greene. ''The STC has made great strides in proactively addressing the needs of homeowners, schools, town officials, architects and other professionals by sharing important information about the benefits and safety of synthetic turf. Our major focus will be to get our message out so that people truly understand the benefits of synthetic turf. This will be the biggest contributor to explosive growth.''
