The Schmidt Design Group Inc. Wins Two National Design Awards


Award-winner, Glen Schmidt, Principal of the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. of San Diego.

Glen Schmidt, Principal of the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. of San Diego has been presented with two national design awards for landscape architecture. The Nature?EUR??,,????'???s Bridge to Discovery in Coronado, California was the winner of the Interpretive Areas and Destination Points category. The Solana Beach Coastal Rail Trail was given an Honorable Mention Award in the Rails-with-Trails category.

The Silver Strand, Nature?EUR??,,????'???s Bridge to Discovery project includes linear park improvements in numerous areas along the seven-mile SR 75 scenic highway on the Silver Strand in Coronado. Several improvements to the existing bike path were made including public art, walking trails, environmental education, restoration of native habitats and scenic highway enhancement. The project, which began with phase one in 1999 was completed in 2003. In addition to national awards this notable project also received an Orchid Award in 2000 and an Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in San Diego in 1999. Glen Schmidt was the ASLA principal-in-charge, Gary Ruyle, the project manager for Schmidt Design Group, Inc. and consulting artists were Paul Hobson and Carl Glowiki.
