The Reaves Firm, Inc. has been designing in Memphis and the Mid-South since 1976 and has 27 employees. The firm specializes in civil engineering, land planning, landscape architecture and land surveying. Notable projects include Guest House at Graceland, Graceland West Retail Center, the Orgill Inc. Corporate Headquarters in Collierville, and the new Amazon Fulfillment Center in Frayser. The firm is low-key, but its footprint is large, extending across most every category of land development from ultra-small retail ventures to the massive distribution centers that dominate the region. The stable, cohesive nature of the firm fosters collaboration and idea sharing. This year marks the 45th anniversary of The Reaves Firm.

 

Pond Stabilization
The Reaves Firm's landscape architecture department designed the walking paths and natural area for the client Concord EFS in Memphis. As part of this process, pond bank stabilization was conducted, and it was designed to resemble a stream. A pump was installed to keep the stream-like pond circulating all year round. For stabilization, large stones of about 2-3' were heeled into slopes on the pond bank in an irregular pattern about every 20 LF. A liner and geotextile fabric was placed on a portion of the pond bottom and a portion of the bank, then covered with fieldstone in a non-uniform manner. The grounds are now owned by Smith+Nephew and the 25 acres serve as a nice respite for workers.

Fieldstone Apartments
The Reaves Firm's landscape architecture department designed all the landscape and irrigation for fieldstone apartments in Memphis, TN. This multi-year project was divided into eight phases by the client and has in total 1,500 apartments over a 99 acres campus. The grounds are gated and include amenities such as multiple outdoor pools, courtyards, and picnic areas. This is a very active and thriving apartment complex.
