A team from Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service successfully eradicated a 10-square-mile infestation of the Asian longhorned beetle from the Boston area in just under four years, the shortest eradication timeframe in history for the beetle.





Last year, the Emerald Ash Beetle was spotted in Colorado for the first time. The infestation has been contained to the City of Boulder, though Colorado residents are advised to be on the lookout for signs of the beetle.

Trap-jaw ants, a group of stinging ants with large and powerful jaws, have been spreading from Alabama into states across the Southeast. Based on the available research, it does not seem that they will create a super-colony or become a major pest group.
