According to the National Arborists Association (Reporter•July 1993•No 113) Senators Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Bill Bradley (D-NJ) are seeking co-sponsors of a bill to adopt the oak tree as the nation's arboreal symbol. Adopting the oak as a national tree would heighten environmental awareness and appreciation of the importance of arboreal resources. The National Arborists Association asks that people to write to their Senator and encourage them to cosponsor S.J. Res 81.
