The Nature Conservancy Announces Grand Opening

Conservation Learning Center opens at The Disney Wilderness Preserve

OSCEOLA and POLK COUNTIES, FL

Recently local community leaders, government officials, reporters and guests gathered to celebrate the grand opening of The Nature Conservancy's Conservation Learning Center at The Disney Wilderness Preserve. The center is a campus of research labs, classrooms, hiking trails and exhibits designed to provide environmental learning opportunities for scientists and visitors alike.

The speakers included, John Sawhill, president of The Nature Conservancy, Bob Bendick, Conservancy Florida Chapter director, Jeff Danter, Disney Wilderness Preserve project director, Lt. Governor Frank Brogan and Dianna Morgan, vice president, public affairs, Walt Disney World Company.
"The Conservation Learning Center is an example of partnering for the good of the environment," said Bob Bendick. "Besides leading the way in environmental restoration, the center is a standing monument that represents how people work together in the spirit of cooperation to protect our state's fragile environments, and will hopefully encourage like-minded citizens to do the same."
The Center will form the hub for all the research, management, education and restoration activities at The Disney Wilderness Preserve. It's an ideal setting to learn about central Florida's fragile ecosystems, environmental restoration efforts, and the latest in "green" technology.
