LISLE, Ill. ?EUR??,,????'??+ The Morton Arboretum will address challenges in growing and nurturing ash trees in the Midwest in a seminar on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14-15, at the Arboretum. Tree professionals are invited to participate in the event, which will provide the latest information on best practices to select and care for ash trees. Ash trees now make up about 20 percent of the total trees shading streets, parks, and homes in the Chicago area. Among the newest threats to ash trees is the emerald ash borer, although it has not yet been found in Illinois. The seminar will help professionals identify and prepare for this invasive pest's likely arrival. Seminar participants also will gain an assessment of currently available ash trees and strategies to maintain tree health and vigor. The seminar, which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, offers continuing education credits. Registration fees include presentation materials, morning and afternoon refreshments, and lunch. For information and to register, call (630) 719-2468 or visit www.mortonarb.org, under the education listing.
