Apple's new $5 billion dollar headquarters, located in Cupertino, California, down the street from the original headquarters, has been likened to a spaceship by Steve Jobs himself. This state-of-the-art facility embodies Jobs' dream of constructing one of the most technologically advanced buildings in the world.

Perhaps one of the most ambitious aspects of this new monstrosity isn't the underground parking, it isn't the incorporation of the world's largest curved glass, and it isn't even that the whole building is run on sustainable energy. One might go as far to say that it is the landscaping.

Jobs' vision was to make the headquarters 80% landscaping, up from the original 20% that was in the office park before Apple bought the land. The total area of landscaping on the property before the new headquarters was 1.7 million square feet, now it is 5.1 million square feet.

Apple's new headquarters is shaped like one huge ring, and in the center is a colossal park that boasts a wide range of facets. It will include more than 9,000 trees, a large water feature, 2 miles of walking paths, basketball courts, a fitness center and a subterranean theater that holds up to 2,000 people.

The trees are a mix of native fruit and hardwoods, some of which were on the land before, and equate to a small forest. One thousand bikes will also be provided for the nearly 20,000 employees that will call this their office.

There are so many different interesting facts about this wonder that it is impossible to cover them all. To leave off on a fact that often seems overlooked; in 2018, America will see one of the most futuristic, high-tech, and innovative landscaping projects that the world has ever seen.
