The School & Corporate Campus Issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .

The new Heights School site has brought fresh energy to Arlington Public Schools, merging the HB Woodlawn and Eunice Kennedy Shriver academic programs into a state-of-the-art facility with around 775 seats. This exciting project redefined education spaces and has enriched the surrounding community with a range of thoughtful features.

Beyond the classroom, the campus includes an inviting outdoor recreation field and four roof terraces, each offering a unique outdoor retreat for both play and learning. An innovative, multi-faceted stormwater management system integrates environmental responsibility into the design, incorporating 100% D.C.-native plant material into the landscaping. All materials and finishes were developed in great detail in order to provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance facility.
