LOS ANGELES-- Find out how you can harness the sun, and capture a hefty rebate from your utility company with the UCLA Extension course "The Solar Energy Solution: Harnessing Solar Power in the Home and Office."
Designed for homeowners as well as engineers who want to stay abreast of latest developments, the course is free of technobabble and offers easy-to-understand solutions to rising energy costs at your home or business. Taught by Calabasas-based solar energy pioneer Rod Bergen, BEE, P.E., president, Quantum Sciences, Inc., the course offers practical advice for homeowners who want to increase their energy independence, cut their bills, and promote a cleaner environment.
An early advocate of solar energy, Bergen has advised government and industry leaders how to add solar to their energy mix, and he offers easy ideas for individuals.
"Solar is a simple, effective and economic energy source for homeowners," says Bergen. "After all, solar energy is free. You just have to buy the bucket to collect it in, and the utilities will pay you back for half of it."
"The Solar Energy Solution: Harnessing Solar Power in the Home and Office" is offered Thursdays 6:30-9:30 pm, Oct. 16-Nov. 20, Rm. 5233 Math Sciences Building on the UCLA campus. The fee is $300.
