Alice, Texas Implements Stage 3 Irrigation Restrictions

The current Texas drought has forced the City of Alice to implement Stage 3 of their water-rationing program.

Stage 3 rules: Irrigation of landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems shall be limited to Sundays and Thursdays for customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8), and Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9), and irrigation of landscaped areas is further limited to the hours between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on designated watering days.

Lubbock, Texas Looking At Further Irrigation Restrictions In April, 2012

Lubbock's Water Advisory Commission proposed that the city goes into stage-2 drought restrictions in April. Lubbock has been in Stage-1 since 2006.

''This year, 2012, for the first time, we will not have any water coming from Lake Meredith,'' said Aubrey Spear, Lubbock Water Utilities Director.

''We don't have as much water to supply the City of Lubbock as we did last summer because Lake Meredith used to help us with our peak during the summer,'' Spear said.

If the proposal is accepted, landscape irrigation will be restricted to one day per week.
