Texas Group Offers Reduced Workers’ Comp Rates

The Texas Green Industry Workers’ Compensation Group (TGI) is working with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA) and Hotchkiss Insurance Agency, Inc. of Dallas to set up a cooperative effort offering workers’ compensation insurance at reduced rates.

The purchasing group, which includes landscape contractors, nurseries, and irrigation specialists as well as other green industry businesses, will provide qualifying members with an option for workers’ compensation coverage which includes a 10.5 percent premium discount.

“The green industry is a $9.6 billion powerhouse in Texas,” said Ken Hotchkiss, the insurance company’s vice president. “As a whole, the Texas green industry has an excellent loss ratio which can be directly attributed to the commitment to professionalism and safety exhibited by many of the TGI employers.”
