The newly opened TxDOT campus brings over 300 employees to a central workplace hub with extensive landscape, providing campus visitors a myriad of outdoor spaces for working, socializing, and gathering in a functional and beautiful setting. Designing the nearly 50-acre site that included natural grade change and densely wooded areas resulted in a landscape experience characterized by the blending of natural features with thoughtfully constructed ones. Custom concrete designs and decorative pavers designate spaces for vehicular and pedestrian use, while rain gardens, planted areas highlighting native Texas plants, and tree preservation incorporated throughout speak to a commitment to environmental sensitivity. A network of scenic trails connects site buildings and a large-scale, multi-tier pavilion with a green roof provides a gracious and shaded outdoor gathering space. Coleman & Associates' scope of work included all phases, from schematic design and design development to construction documentation and observation, irrigation design, trail design, and furnishings selection.
