Located in the heart of the Texas A&M University campus, the Student Services Building houses numerous offices and key departments that support Aggie campus life. The building's significance as a robust campus hub and beautified, modern structure required the landscape experience to highlight its importance and set the stage for a refined interior space. Multiple shaded seating areas around the building's exterior expand its capacity as a place for gathering and learning. Thoughtful details, such as building foundation planting and the use of historic materials reclaimed from demolished Bizzell Hall throughout the design, elevate the building's surroundings and integrate it with neighboring Rudder Plaza. Located along the historic Military Walk at Texas A&M University, Rudder Plaza is an inviting destination for student interaction in the heart of campus. The Plaza's contemporary-yet-classic design compliments the surrounding buildings, and moveable furniture allows students to create flexible seating vignettes for studying, recreation, and lounging on a 3,500 square foot artificial turf lawn. Other landscape features include a hammock stand with space to accommodate up to six hammocks, an expansive shade structure, and multiple bike racks.
