TCIA Calls for Entries for Safety Awards
Submissions Due November 1

The TCIA, a public and professional resource for trees and arboriculture, is seeking nominations for individuals, crews and companies to be honored for their annual Safety Awards.

The Tree Care Industry Association is seeking entries for its annual Safety Awards in two categories: Outstanding Individual/Crew Performance, and Outstanding Company Contribution.

The Outstanding Individual/Crew Performance award recognizes a heroic reaction to an emergency situation. The situation does not necessarily have to involve a tree care incident; "Good Samaritan" acts will also be considered. Past winners include crews who rendered aid to car accident victims while they were on the way to a job site, and an individual who helped an injured climber until emergency responders arrived.

The Outstanding Company Contribution award recognizes a member company's proactive program to address safety issues. Examples include accident audits, safety and emergency response training, and awareness campaigns. A year of no accidents, while an excellent accomplishment, is not grounds for an award unless the nominating party can cite specific activities which led to it. Past winners include a company that created a safety outreach video to keep employees, clients and the public informed about best safety practices.

To nominate an individual, crew or company, download the entry form from TCIA.org, fill it out completely, and email, mail, or fax it to TCIA along with a photo. Activities submitted for recognition must have taken place within the current calendar year. Submissions are due November 1.

The winners for 2016 will be informed in December and formally recognized at TCIA's annual Winter Management Conference, February 5-9, 2017, at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico.
