LASN received 35 letters that specifically responded to the four questions in the July Publisher's Statement. The results below indicate response to individual questions.

Q1: Of 20 responses, all said LA's actually want to be registered; however, the respondents were divided 3 to 1 against grandfathering other professionals for various reasons.

Q2: The questions about ASLA President-Elect Dennis Otsuji's meeting with the President and endorsing universal coverage elicited the most responses: 30 people answered 2A. Of nine individuals who favored universal coverage, two were not ASLA members, while three times as many either opposed the health care program or opposed ASLA's endorsement. No one said they were polled in advance.

Q3: The IRLA's press release elicited 26 fairly equally divided responses; most who said "no" disapproved of advertising in general.

Q4: How LA's can make a living and be recognized as professionals by other professions and the public are LASN readers' biggest concerns. The concensus was that the environment is the biggest new market for LA's.
