Sunset Strip Streetscape Getting $5.4 Million Upgrade

On Jan. 4, 2010, the city of West Hollywood began repaving the Sunset Strip roadway, which hasn’t been done since it was converted from a dirt road in
the 1930s.

The Strip is a 1.6-mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard that passes through West Hollywood from Sierra Drive to Harper Avenue. In the ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Pedestrian/traffic improvements will include roadway and crosswalk markings and upgraded traffic signal equipment.

The six-month project is estimated to cost $5.4 million, which includes a little more than $1 million in federal stimulus money.

The city of West Hollywood, Sunset Strip Business Association and the Gibson Guitar Co. (with musicians and friends) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sunset Strip Beautification Project on January 20, 2010 at, where else, the Whisky A Go-Go on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.
