John Price Park, in Palm Beach County, Florida will be home to a new "Super Park" thanks to a $400,000 donation. Florida Governor Jeb Bush wants to see 50 Boundless Playgrounds in the state in the next three years.

Nearly one in 10 children in the United States has some form of disability; in Palm Beach County, it is estimated that there are nearly 35,000 special needs children under the age of 18, underscoring the need for special play facilities.

John Price Park will become the home to a new ?EUR??,,????'??super park?EUR??,,????'?? designed to meet the developmental needs of children with a variety of abilities and disabilities. The playground will serve children ages 2?EUR??,,????'???16 and will be a state-of-the-art. The park will be designed for all children to play together, as nearly 80 percent of the equipment is accessible to disabled children.

The new park is a community collaborative effort of two foundations, Quantum and Picower, and the Palm Beach County Department of Parks and Recreation. Quantum and Picower will contribute $200,000 each. The Palm Beach County Department of Parks and Recreation has agreed to dedicate two and one-half lakefront acres for the playground at John Prince Park, along with the site work and infrastructure development including parking and restrooms. The value of the land with improvements is estimated at $600,000.

"This playground represents an opportunity to build on our health diversity grant portfolio, and gives children of all abilities the opportunity to play and exercise together," said Jeannette Corbett, president of the Quantum Foundation.

This Boundless Playground will meet the requirements of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and exceed the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act.

This park represents the second Boundless Playground collaboration. The first began in 2000 when the foundations funded the Quantum Leaps and Bounds Playground on the Easter Seal campus in West Palm Beach. In developing the Easter Seals project, the community expressed an interest in creating a super park; from that idea came the impetus to create a Super Boundless Playground Park.
