Stepstone Adds TERREWALKS® to its Portfolio

TERREWALKS®, a new way to look at sidewalks with large-scale pavers, is a 100 percent recycled flexible paving system. Its large-scale pavers build sidewalks that support tree growth.

Landscape architects looking for solutions to residential development now have another option for sidewalks. Stepstone is an industry leader that works with design professionals to develop narrow modular pavers. TERREWALKS® sidewalks, through a distribution agreement with Rubbersidewalks, allows the company to capitalize on the growth potential of these high performance and environmentally beneficial products.

Made from 100 percent post-consumer plastics, the product is visually appealing alternative to traditional products in urban and commercial applications, contributing to LEED and SITES™ credits.

Instead of the inflexible poured in-place traditional sidewalks that crack, lift, and add maintenance and liability challenges, landscape contractors can quickly, easily and neatly install this flexible yet unbreakable paving system.

''The most amazing thing is that we went back to the sidewalks next to certain trees every six or seven years because the concrete was severely uplifted – more than eight inches at pretty steep angles,'' said Robin Jarrett, Street Maintenance Supervisor in Santa Monica, Calif. ''Now I look at those same areas after we installed TERREWALKS® and they have been absolutely flat for the last seven years with only minor maintenance of some small roots.''

Donnie Snow, Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, Racine, WI: ''It was great because whenever the old building foundations caused the ground to sink, TERREWALKS®, unlike concrete, could be simply and quickly removed and replaced in a cost effective and timely way.''
