The Lubbock, Texas drought continues, and the city enacted Stage 2 of its Drought Contingency Plan. Even with this, the city is considering moving into Stage 3 later this year. What will this mean for the area's landscape contractors and maintenance professionals? It means ?EUR??,,????'???.

Residents and businesses will only be able to water their landscapes one day per month. Irrigation cannot be more than 1.5 inches of water per zone.

Hand watering for landscape irrigation purposes will be permitted on a daily basis.

Stage 3 Water Restrictions would be initiated if the following occurs:

  • Maximum day-water use exceeds 100 percent of the city?EUR??,,????'???s maximum daily supply capacity for five consecutive days.
  • Water supplies available from all sources are reduced by 10 percent or more below projected needs.
  • Water availability from lakes and groundwater falls well below normal, continue to decline and additional reductions in current or future water supplies are evident; or water supplies have been reduced due to the failure of one or more water supply systems.
